No Damaged Goods by Nicole Snow ~ review

No Damaged Goods is the 4th book in the Heroes of Hearts Edge series. This book is told in duel point of view which is my favorite writing style. I like knowing what each character is thinking.

No Damaged Goods is the story of Blake and Peace. Blake is a single father of a teenager and is struggling with her since her mom died. She blames him. He's also struggling from an accident in the war years ago. He is considered a Hero of Hearts Edge, but doesn't consider himself one. Peace just moved to Hearts Edge hoping to settle down. Her father passed when she was younger and her mother smothered her so she knows what Blake's daughter is going through. Peace is a massage therapist and wants to help Blake with his injury from war.

Blake tries to stay away from Peace, but something happens and Peace isn't safe. So Blake moves her in with them to help protect her. They work together to figure out what is going on in their small town and who is to blame. Also feelings stir. Can Peace finally settle down and stay in one place? Can Blake take the help and fall in love with Peace?

I really enjoyed this book and like this series.

Angry God by L.J. Shen

“Once again, L.J. Shen has blown me away with a hauntingly beautiful, angst-driven, emotionally charged romance that will stay with me long after the last page. A must read for 2020.”
--Siobhan Davis, USA Today bestselling author

Vaughn Spencer.
They call him an angry god.
To me, he is nothing but a heartless prince.
His parents rule this town, its police, every citizen and boutique on Main Street.
All I own is a nice, juicy grudge against him for that time he almost killed me.
Between hooking up with a different girl every weekend, breaking hearts, noses and rules, Vaughn also finds the time to bully little ole’ me.
I fight back, tooth and nail, never expecting him to chase me across the ocean after we graduate high school.
But here he is, living with me in a dark, looming castle on the outskirts of London.
A fellow intern. A prodigal sculptor. A bloody genius.
They say this place is haunted, and it is.
Carlisle Castle hides two of our most awful secrets.
Vaughn thinks he can kill the ghosts of his past, but what he doesn’t know? It’s my heart he’s slaying.
Angry God is a stand-alone, DARK High School Romance. It deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering.

Excerpt

“How good are you at keeping secrets, Lenora Astalis?” His voice wrapped around my neck like a noose.
I wanted to cough. I needed to cough. He terrified me. I hated him with the heat and passion of a thousand blazing suns. He made me feel like a scaredy cat and a snitch.
“Oh, yes. If you’re coward enough to pretend you’re asleep, you’re good enough to keep a secret. That’s the thing about you, Astalis. I can smash you into dust and watch your grains dance at my feet. My little circus monkey.”
I might’ve hated Vaughn, but I hated myself more for not standing up to him. For not opening my eyes and spitting in his face. Clawing his unnaturally blue eyes out. Taunting him back for all the times he’d taunted all of us at Carlisle Prep.
“By the way, your eyelids are moving,” he said drily, chuckling.
He straightened up, his finger making a brief stop at the base of my spine. He snapped his fingers, making a breaking sound, and I nearly jumped out of my skin, letting out a gasp. I squeezed my eyes tighter, still pretending to sleep.
He laughed.
The bastard laughed.
Was he sparing me for the time being? Was he going to check in on me from now on? Retaliate if I opened my mouth? He was so unpredictable. I wasn’t sure what my life would look like in the morning.

Married to My Enemy - Review

Married to My Enemy was my first book I read by Vivian Woods and I really enjoyed it and plan to read more of her books. I was able to get an arc copy of this book and I fell in love with the two main characters Luca and Cate.

Luca and Cate grew up in two different worlds. Luca came from money but not the best home life with his parents. Cate grew up with doting parents but not very wealthy. Cate was friends with Luca's sister Luna and that is how the two met. Luca wasn't the nicest when he met Cate years ago because of her family life and that caused a riff between the two so they became enemies.

Something happened where they became married. It's funny how it happened, but based on the title of the book it was bound to happen. They have some downhill battles from there and it was really entertaining.

One think I loved about this book is that it was told from duel point of views from Luca and Cate. I really like to hear what they are thinking and the back and fourth between the main characters. At the end there is a bonus scene told by Luna for the next book. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Fake It 'Til You Break It is NOW LIVE!!!

Fake It ‘TIl You Break It is NOW LIVE !!!!

Synopsis:

Fake.
That’s what we are.
That’s what we agreed to be.

I thought it would be harder, convincing everyone our school’s star receiver was mine and mine alone, but we played our parts well.

So well, the lines between us began to blur until they disappeared completely.

The thing about pretending, though, someone’s always better at it, and by the time I realized my mistake, there was no going back.

I fell for our lie.
And then everything fell apart.

It turned out, he and I were never playing the same game.

He didn’t have to break me to win.
But he did it anyway.

Fake It 'Til You Break It - Review

Demi and Nico are neighbors. Their back yard connects. They are also both seniors in high school. They end up being partners in Chemistry. Demi likes another guy, and Nico has had some things in the past happen with this guy. Nico proposes for Demi to fake date him, to make the other guy fall for her.

Both Demi and Nico have some family issues that they work through during the book. I love how the characters have a chance to grow through the book. They learn to work through some of their problems and work with each other. Do they continue to fake it til one of them breaks? Or do they end up as more?

This book is told from duel point of views. I really like this reading style so you know what the both characters are thinking.

I really liked this book and would recommend it.

Crave Your Mercy - Review

Crave Your Mercy is the second book in the Mercy Academy series. I read Beg for Mercy and fell in love with this series and was super excited to read this one.

This story could be read as a standalone since in the beginning it explains what happened to make Blake so upset in the first book.

This story is about Blake and Caroline and is told from duel point of views. I really like this kind of storytelling because it lets you feel what each person is thinking.

Caroline is Aric's sister, and Blake was his friend. Aric did some things in book one that is tearing Blake's family apart. Caroline has some issues going on in her own life and comes home from college.

I loved seeing everything Caroline and Blake went through and how they came out in the end.

I can't wait for Royals' story!

**I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
